sure the valves are up to CPV standards. |
CPV valves measure up to the highest standards in the
industry ... our own.
Since 1915, CPV has built a reputation
based on reliability and leakproof
assurance. In turn, that reputation
has built the company. No small feat
when you consider the demanding
applications where CPV valves are at
work around the world. Since the
beginning, we have found that the
best way to achieve the valve-to-valve
performance consistency and long
term durability our customers demand
is to make sure each and every CPV
valve is thoroughly inspected and
bench tested before shipment.
Liquid Service
The CPV Quality Assurance Program
requires that all valves specified for
liquid service must be tested to 1 1/2
times the rated pressure. When a
customer orders a valve rated for
6000 psi, CPV hydrostatically bench
tests it to 9000 psi in both open and
closed positions. In order to be
certified leakproof, there must be no
indication of leakage. In addition,
every hand-operated valve is checked
against established standards in both
seating and running torque.
Gas Service
CPV inspects all valves designated for
gas service with a bubble test that
uses nitrogen at the rated pressure.
While the valve is at test pressure the
outside surfaces are coated with a
special fluid that forms bubbles when
there is even the smallest leak.
As with CPV’s liquid service valves,
every hand operated gas service valve
is checked against established
standards in both seating and running
torque. Once again, to be certified
leakproof, there must be no indication
of leakage. For customers with
applications involving elusive gases
such as helium, CPV will test with
those gases upon request.
CPV relief valves are tested and
set using nitrogen. After the valve has
been set, pressure is increased until “blow off” is achieved. The “re-seat”
pressure is then checked to make sure
it is no more than 7% off the set
pressure.
Quality assurance backed by
quality experience.
All CPV bench testing is
conducted by our Test Department
headed by Gene McGovern in close
coordination with Engineering
Manager Don Morin. Gene has been
with CPV for 27 years; Don has been
with us for 40 years. Testing and
quality assurance are as important to
us here at CPV as they are to
customers who put our products to
work in their process. That’s why we
make sure the people in charge are as
reliable as the products we
manufacture.
